Joy Is Easy
Ode
Joy is easy…
there’s nothing complicated about it. The sun of a spring day, the warming soil, new life emerges, a smile from a stranger. What tears at joy is denial- denial that humans and others are capable of at least one second of it. The same time spent to say hate despite spring flowers opening-reaching for the sun. My garden will grow and flourish.
I sit by the garden, water trickling from the pond’s waterfall; the cardinal sings its song on the wing.
Where is the power that thirsts for blood-not here, there is only the joy of the day. Beethoven had it right.
“You millions, I embrace you. This kiss is for all the world.”
Ode To Joy, Beethoven
